Laura Burrows, Account Marketing Manager, Inspyr Agency

Recently we "interviewed" Account Marketing Manager, Laura Burrows, to share some fun facts about our wonderful team member:

Me: How would your family describe you as a child? Why? Laura: I was really shy until 5th grade when I decided I was missing out by not being as social as others in my grade. I asked to change schools where I forced myself out of my comfort zone to make new friends.

Me: What was your very first job ever? Laura: My first job was detasseling corn in Iowa! It was absolutely the worst, but taught me so much. I immediately applied for a grocery store cashier as soon as I turned 16. I loved it! I could see myself doing it again when I retire.

Me: What did you want to be when you grew up? Laura: My mom was a stay-at-home mom and I thought I wanted to do the exact opposite. I toyed with being a teacher, lawyer or accountant. Ultimately, the world of marketing opened up to me in college and that's when I set my sights on a national advertising agency. I was in my dream job when our oldest son was born. I thought things wouldn't change too drastically, but then I fell in love with that little blue-eyed, blonde-haired boy and my whole world changed. It was then we requested a transfer from Atlanta, GA to Bloomington, IL so we could focus on my husband's career with State Farm. That move allowed me to stay home with our children and be closer to family in Iowa.

Me: What are some of your most favorite things/hobbies? Laura: A few years ago, my husband and I were going to 2 or more concerts a month (including school concerts)! We loved it! As our boys have gotten older, spending time as a family sitting by the fire on the patio is my most favorite thing. I also enjoy taking part in events around town and traveling.

Me: What is a little known fact about you? Laura: I’m Hispanic. My mom was born in Quito, Ecuador SA and my dad was born in Iowa. My mom actually taught me Spanish before I fully learned English.

Laura received her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing with a Spanish Minor and Certificate in International Business from the University of Northern Iowa. Her experience in media planning and buying, along with her sharp marketing skills, makes Laura an absolute blessing to have on our team.
