Holiday Checklist for Local Businesses by the INSPYR Team

How did it get to be November already? You know what that means? The holidays!

While you personally may not be ready for Thanksgiving, for small businesses, the holidays have already arrived. While every season is important, for many small companies, the holiday season can represent half their annual sales. So, we put together a checklist of holiday promotions and ideas for this Christmas. If you need assistance executing these ideas, INSPYR Agency is here to help.

1. Decorate your business for the holidays. 2. Host milk and cookies with Santa and/or story-time with Santa. Invite your customers to spend an evening with Jolly Old St. Nick at your business. 3. Be a drop off location for a charity. Have customers and those in the community drop off toys, hats, gloves, coats, etc., at your business to be delivered to a charitable organization. 4. Offer extended holiday hours for your customers. 5. Update your Google My Business to reflect your holiday hours. 6. Create a gift guide. 7. Offer gift wrapping. 8. Offer personal shopping experiences. 9. Give your customers curbside pick-up or delivery. 10. Host a give back day. Give a certain percentage of sales to a charity or organization of your choice during this holiday season. Customers love when their money goes to a great cause. 11. Create an email campaign with helpful tips for the holidays. 12. Make sure your content on social media reflects the season. Make sure to keep your customers updated on holiday offers and events on all platforms. 13. Run a 12 Days of Christmas ad on the radio. 14. Film a holiday commercial. 15. Create a festive reel. 16. Offer a giveaway. 17. Offer a free gift with purchase. 18. Host a "Procrastinator Party" before Christmas. Offer even bigger discounts for those last minute shoppers. 19. Give back to the community. Volunteer as a business at the Midwest Food Bank, The Salvation Army, or other organization that relies on volunteers. Be sure to share photos on social media so your clients see the good you are doing in the community. 20. Create a video message of gratitude. Thank your customers for their business and wish them Happy Holidays.
